Sports is usually about athletics.
What do they mean, then, when they say you're a good sport?
What does the word "sporting" mean?
What about sports without the "p" - it would be "sorts".
What does this have to do with sports?
Think about it.
Being a good sport means doing good deeds, accepting your share of the burden, being responsible enough to let your team win and not take the credit for oneself.
Sporting means realistic. Do we have a sporting chance of going to the cinema next weekend?
What sorts of sports would we have if sports had no "p"?
What a silly question.
I'd rather be a sport with a sporting chance than have to sort the paperwork on my desk today, which is why I'm writing about sports.
Try it, and see if it works for you!
